Streaming Dota 2 Games

I was surprised and happy at the same time when I got an email from Converge 3 days that their service is available in our area in Pasig City. I’ve been a subscriber of Globelines before for more than 11 years and my speed was stucked at 3 mbps. There’s no other ISP available in our area in Nagpayong, Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City – until that email.

My previous plan with Globe is at P1,299/month for 3 mbps. It includes a phone service. The plan I have now with Converge ICT is P1,500/month for 35 mbps but with no phone lines. That’s 10x the speed of my previous ISP. I can disconnect my landline as well since I rarely use it.

There are two things I can do with my 35 mbps speed right now – I can apply to Work From Home (WFH) jobs that requires a minimum of 10 mbps speed and I can also stream my Dota 2 games. I tried streaming it before with my 3 mbps speed and no matter how I lower the settings, the stream is just awful.

I installed OBS Studio (streaming software) and create a gaming profile on Facebook. I run the auto-detect of the best settings for Streaming on the OBS Studio (based on my current Converge 35 mbps speed). I copied the Streaming ID from Facebook and paste it on OBS. Also, OBS setup is on Game Capture – so when my Dota 2 is launched (on full screen) it’s sync to OBS which then streams it on Facebook.

I played 4 games so far using Dota 2 hero Axe (I’m doing the All Hero Challenge) and the streams were all smooth. I’m just hoping the downtime of Converge is not often and that they can resolve future issues in a day or two. For now, let’s play more Dota!
