The Pamintuan Mansion In Pictures

Finally, I was able to visit Angeles City a few months ago. It’s on my bucket list of places to visit in Luzon. It’s a great place to travel with its rich culture and architecture. Angeles City is home to the Holy Rosary Church, Holy Angel University and the Pamintuan Mansion, among others.

Last August 24, 2015 it was renamed the Museum of Social Science and History of the Philippines. The proponent of this project was the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). The Pamintuan Mansion is located at the corner of Santo Entierro and Miranda Streets, which is part of the heritage district of Angeles City.

The Pamintuan Mansion was built by Mariano Pamintuan and Valentina Torres in 1890. It was a wedding gift to their son Florentino. It was the headquarters of Gen Antonio Luna in 1899 at the same time, the seat of the Philippine Republic. It’s also famous as the venue of the 1st Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence (June 12, 1899). It was also used by Gen Arthur MacArthur in 1899 as his headquarters.

You could read the rest of the history of the Pamintuan Mansion here.

The Pamintuan Mansion also served as a Regional Office of The Central Bank of the Philippines from 1993 to 2009. They bought the mansion in 1981 and mansion was officially turned over to the NHCP on June 17, 2010. Thus it has a vault inside the mansion.
