Talisay City, Cebu Province (in Pictures)

Talisay is a coastal component city in the island province of Cebu.

The city has a land area of 39.87 square kilometers or 15.39 square miles which constitutes 0.81% of Cebu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 263,048. This represented 7.91% of the total population of Cebu province, or 3.25% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 6,598 inhabitants per square kilometer or 17,092 inhabitants per square mile. Talisay has 22 barangays. (PhilAtlas)

From Naga, Cebu Province I rode a bus going to Cebu City but I dropped off at Tabunok, Talisay City. From there, I rode a tricycle going to the Poblacion area where the church and munisipyo (municipal hall) is located.

The Talisay City Church is also known as Sta Teresa de Avila Church. Similar to other churches in Cebu Province, the Sta Teresa de Avila Church is all painted in white. It also has two belfries so it’s really symmetrical. Right across the street from the church you’ll find the Talisay City Hall where a monument both to Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio can be found.

From Talisay City, I rode a mini-bus back to Cebu City.

Poblacion, Naga, Cebu Province (in Pictures)

Naga is a coastal component city in the island province of Cebu.

The city has a land area of 101.97 square kilometers or 39.37 square miles which constitutes 2.06% of Cebu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 133,184. This represented 4.01% of the total population of Cebu province, or 1.65% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 1,306 inhabitants per square kilometer or 3,383 inhabitants per square mile. Naga has 28 barangays. (PhilAtlas)

This is the 2nd town that is named Naga that I know. The first one being Naga City in Camarines Sur in the Bicol Region. Just like San Fernando, Cebu Province, the town of Naga, Cebu Province is one of those quiet towns that you bypass when going to a major city.

I guess the most important building in this quiet town is the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church located along the highway. Pictures taken using my Xiaomi Redmi Note 9.

Poblacion, San Fernando, Cebu Province

San Fernando is a coastal municipality in the island province of Cebu.

The municipality has a land area of 69.39 square kilometers or 26.79 square miles which constitutes 1.40% of Cebu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 72,224. This represented 2.17% of the total population of Cebu province, or 0.89% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 1,041 inhabitants per square kilometer or 2,696 inhabitants per square mile. San Fernando has 21 barangays. (PhilAtlas)

This is the 3rd San Fernando that I know – after San Fernando, Pampanga and San Fernando, La Union. San Fernando in Cebu Province is a quiet, small town. It’s one of those towns that is traverse by the national highway that you usually just passed going to a major city.

I guess the most interesting building in this part of Cebu Province is the San Fernando Catholic Church also known as San Isidro Labrador Parish church. It has two belfries.

From Carcar City, I passed by San Fernando, Naga and Talisay City on my way back to Cebu City. Pictures taken using my Xiaomi Redmi Note 9.

Walking Around Cebu City (in Pictures) Part 2 of 2

From The Casa Gorordo Museum, I walk along Colon Street and found myself at The Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu. Unfortunately, due to health protocol, they only cater to private events and not open to the public. So I was told.

From there, I walk towards the Santo Nino Basilica and passed by the Patria de Cebu building and the Metropolitan Church of Cebu (painted in white). There were kakanin being sold at the church vicinity and I noticed that there were a lot of vendors selling ready-to-eat papaya, Singkamas, bayabas (guava) and mani (peanuts).

I also passed by the La Fortuna Bakery which prides itself as being around since 1953 before finally reaching the Santo Nino Basilica. Unfortunately, there’s a time on when visitors are welcome inside (still due to the existing health protocols of Covid 19) so I just took some pictures of the façade from the street level. There were so many pasalubong being sold near the church – images of the Santo Nino, foods liks Bong Bong’s Special Piaya, Didang’s Otap, Shamrock Otap, C&L Pinasugbo, etc.

I also passed by the Prudential Bank & Trust Company ( I really wish it will be restored) before boarding a jeep (cab) going to Guadalupe. I passed by the Cebu Provincial Capitol before heading to the Church of Guadalupe, still in Cebu City.

From Guadalupe Church, I rode a mini-bus (there are a lot of these in Cebu City) with the signage Ayala Cebu. Then I rode another jeep (cab) back to Colon Street. From there, there’s a mini-bus passing along Echavez Street where AllSon’s Inn is located.

The next 4 days I spend around touring the towns south, north and west of Cebu City. I visited the Poblacion area (town proper) of Oslob, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Argao, Simala Shrine, Daanbantayan, Bogo City, Sogod, Catmon, Carmen, the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church in Danao City, the San Fernando Rey Parish Church in Liloan, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Carcar City, Barili, Naga, San Fernando, Talisay, Taboan Public Market, Lapu-Lapu Monument, and the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House.

It was a vacation worth remembering.
