Carcar is a coastal component city in the island province of Cebu.
The city has a land area of 116.78 square kilometers or 45.09 square miles which constitutes 2.36% of Cebu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 136,453. This represented 4.10% of the total population of Cebu province, or 1.69% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 1,168 inhabitants per square kilometer or 3,026 inhabitants per square mile. Carcar has 15 barangays as shown in the following table. One of the most beautiful cities I’ve visited in Cebu Province is Carcar City. It has well-preserve old houses, a beautiful church that is adjacent to the city hall and Rizal Monument, on a hill. It’s also a crossroad for those going to Cebu City and to the west side of Cebu Province like the town of Barili.
For heritage preservation enthusiasts, Carcar City, along with Pila (Laguna), Taal (Batangas), Silay (Negros) and Vigan (Ilocos Sur) is a must to visit.
The only monument dedicated to Judas Iscariot that I’ve seen so far.
