The Lapu-Lapu Monument (or Lapulapu Shrine) is located a few kilometers from the Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City. On my last day in Cebu City, my flight back to Manila was around 10:00 am. So after visiting the Sto Nino Church and Taboan Market, I went to SM Cebu where the buses going to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport is located.
I was about 2 hours earlier before the flight so as a last hurrah on my visit to Cebu City, I rode a public jeep (cab) then another cab going to Lapu-Lapu City. The shrine and statue to the first Filipino hero is huge. The area I learned is renovated and it’s very similar to Fort Santiago. There’s a nearby obelisk that seems to be damaged by the recent Typhoon Odette.
