Trip To Quiapo (in Pictures) Part 1 of 2

“Trip To Quiapo” is a scriptwriting manual by Ricky Lee. It’s also one of our books in Journalism (or was it Theater Arts?) in high school.

Quiapo is one of the melting pots of Filipino culture, along with such places as Cubao. A trip to Quiapo is always – overwhelming especially to street photographers (wannabe) like me. There are so many subjects and lots of going on.

Quiapo is for the religious… and also for those who believes in superstitions. Quiapo is for the gadget-obsess Pinoys to those seeking cheaper price for everyday items. Quiapo is like SM – they’ve got it all for you.

We recently sped the weekends in Quiapo – taking photos of places like the Quiapo Church and Quinta Market. We’ve only visited Villalobos and Carlos Palanca Streets and I already got several pictures. I also got to eat that famous Palabok in Quinta Market and got a new cellphone cover for my Xiaomi Note 9 at P100.

Quiapo is also nostalgic for me because our thesis in college were made into books here at Recto Avenue. Even though we studied at Bulacan State University in Malolos, we still visited this place for book-binding.

Sharing with you some of my pictures of this amazing place. Pictures taken using Pentax K-S1.

Mayon Monthly Photo Contest & Villa Salvacion

This year, out high school group created this Mayon Monthly Photo Contest (named after our 4th year section). It’s a photo contest among ourselves which promotes camaraderie and sharing of interests in photography.

We have a lot of themes this year and during my recent trip to Villa Salvacion (with my boss and coworkers), I can’t help but shoot our themes – “Halaman sa Paso”, “Tree/s”, “(Mga) Bulaklak”, “(Mga) Dahon, etc. Villa Salvacion is rich with fauna flora which I truly admire.

Check out the shots I made.
